Netball Sweden accepted as Associate members to INF/NE

Updated: Mar 15, 2021

5 year plan to be established

This week the membership of Netball Sweden to the International Netball Federation (INF) and Netball Europe (NE) was accepted. This takes over the role from the Stockholm Netball Club who as the only club in Sweden had represented Sweden as Associate Members of both organisations.

“We are very pleased to see Netball in Sweden moving into a new phase and look forward to the developments of the next 5 years.”

Judy Aknin, Netball Europe Development Committee

Establishing a National working group

While a committee for the National Federation has been established of representatives of all clubs and known netball activities, there is a wealth of knowledge and experience, particularly in Stockholm from current and past members. The next step now is to establish a working group to develop and implement a 5 year plan of what Sweden aims to achieve in the next 5 years. This plan is part of the acceptance of INF/NE membership who have recently changed their rules to only allow Associate memberships for a maximum of 5 years. In order to be full INF/NE members by 2025 Netball Sweden needs to build the infrastructure and capabilities for us to regularly participate in INF world ranking competitions.

This is no small feat! We welcome all interest and participation.
